HA! You know what it was? It was the trackback plugin. I totally forgot about it, but it does NOT go through akismet. I turned it off last week and haven't had a single spam.

Hmm, very strange, I've got akismet on my website and blog and have never had any problem with it… it's let about 1 in 500 spam comments through. Have you checked akismet is actually working as it should with your blog? i.e. the comments are being passed through it correctly? I know, I know… you probabl have but it has to be asked!

Well, I was viewing the site at a thin client with Internet Explorer 6 on a 17" screen. I do not think it was a CSS issue, more the size of the screen. For an overview I would prefer displaying the data in some sort of table over displaying every domain entry in seperate sections with user info and a lot of empty space beneath them.

I thought you perhaps created some extensions or plugins for Symphony. I´m going to be working on some symphony projects that also need some extra functionality and I´m unsure how I´m going to deal with this. I think I prefer creating some sort of extensions on top of Symphony over building some pages from scratch.

Wow, really? What browser are you using and what is your screen resolution set to? Could just be a CSS issue as I haven't really had the chance to test it in most other browsers yet.

Also, the system was completely built from scratch. We're using symphony only for serving standard website pages and blog stuff.

I like the idea, but as you say the site needs a bit of fine-tuning. I would like to see a better overview of available domains and websites. Now I can only see 4 at the same time on my screen and have to scroll so much that my mousewheel is almost coming off.

I am also very curious how you are handling front end user registration & content posting with Symphony, because this is not a build in functionality.

We've only been live for 2 days now and we got about a month and half of fine-tuning to do. So, we could use all the input we can get.

This is a great idea, even if the comparison to house flipping left me confused at first (flipping? WTF? Some US thinkg obviously ;)).

Anyway, I like the idea and the site. Only thing I would say is that when you sign up and want to list when you haven't purchased any credits, it should show you the form (so new users know the sorts of data they'll be expected to enter) along with the message about not having any credits. Just being told I have to buy credits before I even know what I'm doing is a bit off-putting – what if your form was utter p00p for example – I'd have just paid $ for what could have been some sort of scam. Just thinking like the end-user might ;)

Other than that, top notch and I may have some things to put on at some point. Think some of the form fields should disappear with Domain only though as not really required.

Also your design of MyTopix has guided me to learn php, I'm able to modify MyTopix with my buddy more than any other script/scratch before I even got PostgreSQL version almost functional (Installer completely works even inserting data) now I'm moving all internal queries to files like /sql/pgsql/topics.sql.php

One other bit of software with a similar feature set to MyTopix that I use on a site is MyBB – it's a great bit of kit, however I'm not sure about the underlying code and less certain about the security patches that keep cropping up.

I think that's where MyTopix kind of stood apart – you've had like, what, one security issue since it was initially released in beta?

Something to be proud of there.

I think the problem with people looking to do different things with forum software is that the majority of site admins are looking for a forum. That's it. Plain and simple.

My view is that when you try to do radically different things that give nothing to the actual purpose of the software, you've gone wrong. That said, I'm sure you can think of areas for improvement in this medium that could improve the user experience.

I've started working on my own, but right now its being ignored because I've got too much to do.

I'll definitely mess around with it some more when there's a solid solution for managing users.
