I'm Blowin' this Popsicle Stand
This whole thing with me losing my job really got me thinking. While I enjoy hanging out with, Nick, my best friend on almost a daily basis, I can't really think of any other reason to stay down here.
Sure, Charleston, South Carolina has some really nice areas to goto. The downtown Charleston night scene is a fucking blast even though we all only went there a few times. The beach area, Isle of Palms, is just gorgeous, but never had the time of a warm day to go swimming. The old slave market area seemed like a really nice area to just go browsing around all the shops, but never really had a chance to go for the same reasons I couldn't really do much else in town.
The people down here are alright, but I just don't mesh well with them. Sure, it's a completely different region and culture than what I'm used to, but I can't really see myself blending into the local mentality / way of thinking.
I'm thankful for the opportunity I had to come down here and meet someone I've been friends with for close to 7 years now and I've learned a lot of new things, but it's time to go back home.
I don't have any family down here, tech jobs aren't really in high demand, 99% of my IRL friends are all situated in the central Illinois area, I prefer living in or close to an actual city with big buildings and, hell, I miss getting into late-night trouble with my bar buddies.
South Carolina never really seemed like a proper fit for me and, oddly enough, a random state like Illinois does. Who knows, I might just migrate up to Chicago.
The last thing I plan on doing down here, though, is take the time tomorrow or the next day to just go around taking pictures of everything I really liked down here. I also plan on documenting my 1000 mile trek back home. Hopefully, I'll find a place in the Smokies or Appalachians with a good view so I can take some pics of the mountains. It isn't for you assholes, though; I promised my mommy I would.
So, in closing, I guess I'm just a rolling stone.
Well, I _was_ planning on taking pictures tomorrow, but it seems like it's going to be raining. Crap.
